Rob Trifone, Darien HS Football Coach, Retires: Report

Trifone was the head coach of the impressive Blue Wave team for 13 years.

DARIEN, CT — Rob Trifone, Darien High School's head football coach for the past 13 years, is retiring and will not return next season, writes GametimeCT. He also is retiring as a teacher at the end of the school year.

Trifone won three state championships at Darien, and amassed a record of 129-26 over his tenure. During his coaching career, which included a stint at Brien McMahon High School, his overall record was 252-86-2.

In addition to the three state championships, Trifone also won four FCIAC titles. This past season with the Blue Wave, Trifone went 11-2, losing in heartbreaking fashion to Newtown on the last play of the game.
