Safety Fair Coming Thursday at Darien High School
Police and other organizations will have presentations and info for students about safe behavior and unsafe behavior (like driving drunk).

On Thursday, April 30, the Darien Police Department will help sponsor the “Students Against Destructive Decisions” (S.A.D.D.) Safety Fair at Darien High School.
The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the high school Courtyard. (The rain date is Friday May 1.)
Police will have driving simulators will be on hand so students can experience what it feels like to be in a rollover car accident or to drive while drunk. Handouts, and decals will be available

Janice Marzano, the Program Director of The Darien Teen Center said she hopes that “educating and allowing the students to experience firsthand the results of driving unsafely will be more impactful than just telling teens what to do.”
A Darien Police news release said: “The purpose of this campaign is not only to achieve safer teen driving habits on a daily basis but targets the upcoming Prom Night and summer season as well.”

The Darien Police Department Youth Division, the Department of Transportation, the Department of Motor Vehicles, the Connecticut State Police, the S.A.D.D. Team, Safe Rides, and other organizations will be at the event to help raise awareness about driving safety.
