CT Weather: Severe Weather Possible Friday, Unsettled Weekend

There is nothing good to say about this weekend forecast and severe weather is very possible today in Connecticut.

Severe weather is becoming increasingly likely in parts of Connecticut on Friday this afternoon and evening. And unfortunately, once the potentially severe weather departs, Connecticut will remain unsettled on both Saturday and Sunday with lots of clouds and rain showers both days.

The weekend won't be a washout but showers and storms are possible both days. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for all of Connecticut for the stormy weather.

For Fairfield, New Haven, and inland sections of Middlesex counties, "Severe thunderstorm development is possible this afternoon and evening. The primary threat is damaging winds, however an isolated tornado is also possible. There is also a low flash flood threat with the heaviest storms.

For New London County and the coast of Middlesex County, "Thunderstorms late today and tonight could produce gusty winds and locally heavy rainfall."

And for Northern Connecticut, "A few strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly west of the Boston to Providence corridor. The main threat is damaging wind but an isolated tornado is also possible. Heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding is also possible. A few strong thunderstorms are possible Saturday. The primary threats are locally heavy rainfall and gusty wind." (To sign up for free, local breaking news alerts from more than 100 Connecticut communities, click here.)
