First- and second-year teachers of fifth through twelfth graders are invited to join St. Luke’s August Institute, August 2-6, from 9:00am to 3:00pm. This five-day intensive workshop—offered in person at St. Luke’s School in New Canaan, CT, and online for those who prefer to attend remotely—is designed to give new teachers immediately transferable tools, strategies, activities, and training to run an effective and inclusive classroom.

During this workshop, participants will practice with fifty classroom activities tailored to their grade level, subject area, and school’s mission to make this a personalized experience. They will also learn twenty different classroom technology apps and programs and plan their first week of lessons.

Seven experienced educators are leading the workshop: Abby Abbott, St. Luke’s School Fellows Program Director; Dr. Jaqueline Gallo, The Presentation School’s Head of School; Michael Mitchell, St. Luke’s designLab Director; Jacqueline Nelson, Director of Equity & Inclusion at St. Luke’s School; Kari Olsen, St. Luke’s Director of Counseling Services; Josefino Rivera, Learning Activator and Instructor Coach at the American International School Hong Kong; and Emily Walsh St. Luke’s English Teacher.
