The new coronavirus has changed life for all of us. Local businesses have taken a huge economic hit, but communities are finding creative ways to support the establishments they know and love.

Tell us about your business and its history in your town.

Hollow Tree Self Storage has been open since 2019 and was founded by four partners local to Darien, CT. They have been in the storage industry since 1990 owning Affordable Storage in Norwalk, CT. They discovered that there was a potential need of additional storage for the community in Darien and surrounding towns, so they were able to find land perfectly located and decided to sell the Norwalk location and build a brand new facility with the amenities and needs of the neighborhood.

How has the new coronavirus impacted your business and its employees?

Our team is able to work with customers remotely via email, phone or in person with social distancing by appointment. We are working diligently at the facility to take the necessary precautions and steps to ensure a clean and safe environment.

We are making sure to sanitize high-traffic areas several times a day. Keypads, elevator buttons, flatbeds, bins and doorknobs are subject to increased cleaning. We also have extended our downloadable app to customers as an additional form of protection as it minimizes the contact of keypads upon gaining access to the facility.

How can local customers support you now and in the future?

Shopping local, small businesses need the support of the local community.

Do you have any words of encouragement for your community?

Together we will get through this! Be kind and be safe for the wellbeing of everyone.

Are you offering any special services, promotions or hours during this time?

Our office is open during normal business hours. We are able to function remotely or in person practicing social distancing and are extending our mobile app to ensure less contact in high-traffic areas within the facility. We are currently offering the second full month free and other promotions to come in the near future.

Are there any other outstanding businesses in town you think deserve some community support?

We believe that every business in town deserves the support of the community. Local restaurants, shops, liquor stores, etc. And let's not forget our local non-profits that do so much for our community.
