Suspect Arrested In 2 Motor Scooter Thefts In Darien: Police

The thefts occurred at the Noroton Heights Train Station in 2019.

DARIEN, CT — A 30-year-old Waterbury man was arrested on a warrant by Darien police last week in connection with the theft of two motor scooters from the Noroton Heights Train Station in September 2019, according to authorities.

Demtrice Thompson was charged with two counts of third-degree larceny and two counts of conspiracy in connection with the thefts of a white Piaggio scooter and a Honda Ruckus Scooter, which both occurred on Sept. 30 of last year.

The two scooters were chained under the stairs on the westbound side when they were stolen, according to police.

"Detectives following up on the case were able to develop a suspect identified as Demtrice Thompson," said Darien police. "Arrest warrants were sought,and granted, for Thompson in regards to the thefts. On April 30th, the Waterbury police contacted this agency and stated they had Thompson in custody on the strength of the two warrants held by this agency."

Additional details about the thefts, and how Thompson became a suspect, were not disclosed.

Officers transported Thompson back to Darien for processing, and then released him on a promise to appear in Stamford Superior Court on June 22.
