SUV Stolen In Darien Involved In Bridgeport Shooting: Police

The vehicle, a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was stolen from a home on Timber Lane, according to Darien police.

DARIEN, CT — A 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee, reported stolen from the driveway of a home in Darien on Jan. 11, was recovered by Bridgeport police that night after it was involved in a shooting in that city, according to Darien police.

The Jeep was stolen from a home on Timber Lane on the 11th, and the owner "was unsure as to whether the vehicle was secured and/or if the key was inside" when it was taken, police said. The owner reported the vehicle stolen early in the morning on the 11th.

At about 10:45 p.m. that night, Bridgeport police contacted Darien police and said that the vehicle "had engaged officers in [a] pursuit" in that city and crashed.

Bridgeport police also said that the vehicle "had been used in the commission of a shooting" in that city, but details of which were not immediately available.

Patch reached out to a Bridgeport police spokesperson for more information, but that person did not respond to questions.
