A Travel Website Thinks This Of Connecticut

Thrillist.com looked at various factors, such as inventions, food/drink, and other variables, to rank states. Connecticut didn't fare well.

Keep your head up, Connecticut. Even if the travel and entertainment website Thrillist.com doesn't think too highly of us, at the very least, Connecticut is still home to some fabulous restaurants.

In the eyes of Thrillist, which recently ranked Connecticut as the seventh worst state in the country, Nutmeggers don't have too much to cheer about. The site took into account lots of factors, or as it says pretty much "everything. More specifically, [a state's] contributions to America, so think inventions, food/drink, somewhat productive famous people, unique physical beauty, etc."

Yeah, I know... not a very scientific methodology, but hey, author Matt Lynch might have a point about the state.

"Inventing the cheeseburger, the can opener, ESPN, and Rick Mahorn can only get you so far," writes Lynch about Connecticut's ranking of #44. "Also, we’re subtracting points for John Mayer and warm lobster rolls."

Florida is the nation's worst state, according to Thrillist, mainly because of this guy, followed by Delaware, Ohio, Arizona, Utah, Mississippi and then Connecticut. Rounding out the top (or worst) 10 are North Dakota (#43), Missouri and Nevada.

"Because this is the internet, we expect disagreements," continues Thrillist. "We expect that you will find our placement of Arkansas or New York or Montana [#19, #13 and #18, respectively] infuriating, and accuse us of pandering and showing regional biases. Someone will inevitably use the word 'invalid' and say they stopped reading as soon as 'X' happened. Someone else will accuse us of having never been to a state, and say mean things about our hair. This is fine."

OK, Thrillist, I'll bite... the nation's best state is Michigan? Really? The state with the Flint Water Crisis? Next are Maine, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Louisiana in the top 5.
