Vehicles Stolen, Items Taken From Cars In Darien: Police
Two vehicles were recently stolen and items such as a bank card and cash were taken from cars parked in Darien, according to police.
DARIEN, CT — Two vehicles were recently stolen and items such as a bank card and cash were taken from cars parked in Darien, according to police.
In a news release, Police Sgt. James Palmieri said a Volkswagen Atlas was reported stolen from the garage of a Timber Lane home on May 11. The garage door had been closed at the time it was stolen and the keys to the car had not been left in the vehicle, Palmieri said.
According to Palmieri, the he garage door was found open and the vehicle was gone when the owner woke up in the morning. Using the car's tracking software, detectives determined the vehicle was on Amsterdam Avenue in New York City.

Detectives contacted the New York Police Department, who located the vehicle and arrested its occupants, Palmieri said.
The following day, a Land Rover HSE was reported stolen from Apple Tree Lane. The vehicle had been left unlocked and the owner was unsure if a spare key had been left inside, Palmieri said.

In addition to the two car thefts, a number of items were also stolen from vehicles parked in Darien last week.
On May 11, an unlocked Jeep Compass parked on Old Oak Road was entered and a wallet containing bank cards and identification was reported stolen. According to Palmieri, one of the cards had already been used at a gas station in Stamford earlier in the morning.
That same day, an unlocked Nissan Titan on Greenwood Avenue was entered and a "Leatherman" tool and a flashlight were taken from it, Palmieri said. An unlocked Acura RDX and Acura MDX on Horseshoe Road were also entered, however nothing appeared to be missing from either car, Palmieri said.
Also on May 11, an unlocked BMW 535 was entered and a pair of sunglasses and $120 cash were reported missing, Palmieri said.
