The Chester Museum at The Mill Opening July 4th
The town of Chester's history will be on display.
CHESTER, CT — The Chester Museum at The Mill – opens for its 2021 season on Sunday, July 4 at 10 a.m.
The new first-floor exhibit, curated by Keith Dauer and Sandy Senior-Dauer, is titled:
Before the Vote · Ahead of Their Time.
According to a recent Facebook post, the exhibit highlights the achievements of women of Chester between 1870 and 1920, the year they finally were given the right to vote. The exhibit features Chester’s women leaders in education, religion, business and the library. There are also immigrant stories and examples of how women spent their leisure time. It illustrates the creativity, compassion and industry of Chester women in an era of Âlimited possibilities.
The second-floor exhibit, which tells the history of the town of Chester, has been refreshed by Rob Miceli and Nancy Miceli Watkins once again – this time with a greater focus on the Russell Jennings Manufacturing Company.
Summer visiting hours will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free. Please wear a mask if you are not vaccinated.
