New Covid Cases in Region 4 Schools Impact 73 Individuals

ESSEX, CHESTER, DEEP RIVER, CT — The following letter went out to parents on March 15th:

Dear Deep River Elementary School, John Winthrop Middle School, and Valley Regional High School Communities,
This morning we became aware of positive COVID-19 cases impacting DRES, JWMS and VRHS. The last date the individuals attended school and/or rode a bus was on Thursday, March 11.
These cases impact 38 students and 4 staff members at Deep River Elementary School (DRES); 20 students and 7 staff members at John Winthrop Middle School (JWMS); and 4 students at Valley Regional High School (VRHS). The administration has notified families of students and staff members who had verified close contact with the known positive cases. All individuals who had close contact with the known cases will also be contacted by local health departments.
