The Chester Conservation Commission knows the advantages of planting native.

CHESTER, CT — Enviro tip from the Chester Conservation Commission:

We in Chester know the advantages of including native plants in our gardens. But when John Adams and Thomas Jefferson toured English gardens in 1786, they marveled at the large number of American plants they saw. Englishmen had been importing and planting exotic non-native plants for most of the 18th century to add variety and beauty to their gardens, not realizing, as we do, the advantages of native plants for other wildlife including birds and many invertebrates.
