Bid on Farmington River Art, Support Boys & Girls Clubs Hartford

Farmington fine artist Kate Emery auctions "Fishing on the Farmington" painting to support Hartford-based nonprofit.

Farmington artist Kate Emery is auctioning an original oil painting to benefit Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford, which was founded in the capital city 160 years ago and gave rise to the now national Boys & Girls Clubs of America. The locally inspired painting, Fishing on the Farmington, depicts a sportsperson fly fishing on this renowned trout stream. Bids will be accepted online at KateEmery.com/auctions through 8 p.m. ET on December 30, 2020, or the painting may be secured as a holiday gift at its “buy it now” price.

“I had the pleasure of being a volunteer and serving on the board of this wonderful organization for a few years,” says Emery, “and I think that especially in today’s world, boys and girls need an opportunity to be in community with other kids and caring adults who will guide them to laugh, learn and take care of one another.” A second-career artist who works full-time from her Farmington Valley studio, Emery supports area nonprofits working for the betterment of people and the planet with every piece she sells.

Emery will donate 75 percent of the price realized for her 14x18-inch Fishing on the Farmington painting, framed and valued at $750, to support the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford’s mission to enable all young people to realize their full potential. Interested bidders may see the painting on the artist’s website: KateEmery.com. The winning bidder will also receive a face mask featuring the painting. Farmington River face masks may be purchased online ($18 + shipping), as well, with proceeds benefiting Boys & Girls Clubs this month.
