Water Main Work To Bring Traffic Delays To Farmington

FARMINGTON, CT — Water main work on Route 4 in Farmington that is expected to cause traffic delays is slated to begin next week.

Beginning Monday, the Connecticut Water Company will be replacing a water main on Route 4, locally known as Farmington Avenue. Motorists on Route 4 can expect a detour between West Avon Road and Brickyard Road, officials said.

The work is slated to take place between 7 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Connecticut Water Company officials estimate that the detour should be complete by the end of August and the project should be complete by the end of September.

The project is designed to replace an aging system. Signs will be posted and police will be on site to direct traffic. All businesses along the affected route will remain open and accessible to the public.
