Farmington Artist Auctions Painting to Benefit Interval House
Local artist Kate Emery will donate proceeds from the auction to benefit Interval House during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

To raise awareness and funds for Interval House during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Farmington-based fine artist Kate Emery is auctioning her original oil painting, Sunflowers in a Glass Vase, to benefit Connecticut’s largest agency dedicated to ending domestic violence. Bids will be accepted online at KateEmery.com/auctions through 8 p.m. on October 30, 2020.
The 20x16-inch original still life painting, with its hopeful and harmonious shades of yellow and teal, will brighten the winning bidder’s home or office space, while the funds raised will uplift individuals moving out of and on from abusive home environments.
“I am happy to support Interval House and its important mission of helping women escape domestic violence, which is exponentially more important during these stressful times,” says Emery. A second-career artist who works full-time from her studio in Farmington, Emery partners with nonprofits so that each of her works sold benefits a community cause. “I want my work to have a positive impact on people in need,” says the entrepreneur and founder of The Walker Group, a Farmington-based professional technology services social enterprise, and reSET, a Hartford-based non-profit that seeks to advance the social enterprise sector in the state.

Emery will donate 75 percent of the price realized for the painting, valued at $650, to Interval House (intervalhousect.org). Founded in 1977, the Hartford-based organization offers immediate and compassionate support to about 4,500 victims of domestic violence each year in 24 cities and towns both east and west of the Connecticut River—all at no charge.
