FARMINGTON, CT — Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz announced over the weekend that a Farmington-based manufacturer — the Mott Corporation — has signed a contract in excess of $10 million to expand its market base and create "new job opportunities" by producing and supplying gas and liquid filtration systems for PEMEX Dos Bocas Refinery Plant in Tabasco, Mexico.

The deal will result in more than 200 precision manufacturing and engineering jobs at the company's two Connecticut facilities, where a majority of the design and engineering work will be performed, Bysiewicz said.

Mott Corporation will use "key U.S. components and vendors," she said.

"This contract will support more than 200 precision manufacturing and engineering jobs in our two facilities in Connecticut. As a Connecticut manufacturer, we were assisted in this by our state leaders such as Lt. Gov. Susan Bysiewicz, Chief Manufacturing Officer Colin Cooper, and Director Anne Evans from the U.S. Department of Commerce, who worked with us to advocate our bid at the highest levels. Their advocacy to the Mexican government for this contract was the essential piece that supported this bid,” said Boris Levin, Mott's chief executive officer.

Bysiewicz worked with Mott, the U.S. Department of Commerce's Connecticut office, and the Office of the Mexican Consul General, to initiate talks.

"I was so proud to work with the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Connecticut Office, the Consul General of Mexico, and Mott Corporation to help bring this important contract to fruition. This is just one example of how our state government under the leadership of our administration is a champion for Connecticut companies large and small by helping business owners enter new markets, create and sustain good-paying jobs, and grow their footprint," Bysiewicz said.

"It's my pleasure to assist any matter that involves our common economic interests for the benefit of our countries. Mexico and the U.S. are partners and allies. Mott Corporation's participation in Mexico is an example on how we build things together under the new USMC free trade agreement. Clearly, with economic cooperation, together we are stronger," said Jorge Islas-López, consul general of Mexico.

"Mott Corporation is a progressively managed company with significant employee engagement and world-class technology. It’s great to see the international market recognize the quality and value of their highly engineered products," said Colin Cooper, the state's chief manufacturing officer.

Mott Corporation is a 100 percent employee-owned company that designs and manufacturers high precision filtration systems serving four core markets — medicine, semiconductors, clean energy and aerospace defense.

The company is slated to begin production immediately with a targeted completion date of 2022, state officials said.
