Farmington Entry Scores In Lt. Governor's Compute Challenge

FARMINGTON, CT — From among 430 submissions in the second annual computer challenge by Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, 13 entries received recognition, including and entry from Farmington.

The 13 teams, from schools across the state and three different age groups, were recognized at a virtual celebration with Bysiewicz, Department of Motor Vehicles Commissioner Bongi Magubane, acting Department of Education Commissioner Charlene Russell-Tucker and Office of Higher Education Executive Director Tim Larson.

Hrithika Ravishankar and Mantra Burugu, juniors at Farmington High School, were recognized for "Breathe."

Breathe is a website that serves as a dam on "the constant stream of misinformation surrounding mental health" by accurately educating the general public about mental health.

The site has features meant to improve the mental state of the user. The breathing exercises tab educates the user about deep breathing exercises that can subdue an anxiety attack, reduce stress, and energize. The tab contains some breathing exercises through responsive animations that users can use to improve their mental health.
