Farmington Man Indicted in Federal Oxycodone Case

An indictment was delivered Thursday in a federal drug case with Farmington ties.

FARMINGTON, CT — A 51-year-old Farmington man has been implicated in a multi-tiered investigation involving a powerful narcotic.

Leonard C. Boyle, acting United States attorney for the District of Connecticut, and Brian D. Boyle, special agent in charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England, Thursday announced that a federal grand jury in Hartford has returned a five-count indictment charging Anthony Harris with multiple counts relating to the illegal distribution of oxycodone.

The indictment was returned on June 1 and Harris was arrested Thursday, authorities said. He appeared via videoconference before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert A. Richardson and was released on a $50,000 bond.

According to case records, Harris was prescribed oxycodone, but unlawfully sold his prescribed pills over the course of more than three years.

The indictment charges Harris with four counts of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of, oxycodone, and one count of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute, and distribute, oxycodone.

Each charge carries a maximum prison term of 20 years.
