Farmington Mentor Elected to CT Women's Basketball Hall of Fame
He and six other honorees will be inducted at an annual ceremony in late September.
CONNECTICUT — Seven individuals, including a longtime basketball camp director in Farmington, have been elected as the Class of 2020 of the Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame, and will be honored at an induction ceremony in late September.
Brian Hurlock, elected in the Honorary category, recalls being the last one off the bench for his Farmington High School basketball team. From that humble beginning, he has built a significant legacy of coaching, officiating and mentoring young basketball players. He recently completed his 30th year running a basketball camp in Farmington, a camp which stresses "details" and learning the intricacies of the game, according to a statement from the CWBHOF.

Hurlock has coached at several high school programs throughout the state over a 40-year period and took pride in seeing his teams improve from one year to the next. A prime example was his Terryville High School team which was 1-19 his first season and 12-10 the next. He has coached five different high school girls' basketball teams to state tournament berths, including leading a Wolcott Tech team which had lost 265 games without a victory to a Class S state tournament berth in 2012.
The Connecticut Women's Basketball Hall of Fame was the first organization of its kind in the country. It was created in 1987 by five professional and personal friends who strongly felt the need to honor outstanding basketball players, coaches, officials, and advocates. The Hall of Fame honors those who have contributed to the enhancement of women's basketball in Connecticut, either through participation, through service, through support or through achievement.
