Farmington Obituary: Calvin Margison, 86
He served in the Korean War in Okinawa and received a National Defense Service Medal.

Calvin Stewart Margison, 86, of Stuart FL, formerly of Farmington, passed away peacefully at home the evening of Sunday, September 16, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
He leaves his beloved wife of over 64 years, Sylvia Douglas Margison, his daughters Diane Margison Hanauer and husband John of New Canaan, Debra Margison Casalino and her husband Thomas of Richmond, VA, and his son Douglas Scott Margison and his wife Faith of Farmington. He also leaves behind grandchildren Carter, Douglas, Paige, Thomas, Elena and Grant.
He was born in Hartford on October 21, 1931, to Judson and Mary Grant Margison, who predeceased him, as well as his brother, Richard. He served in the Korean War in Okinawa and received a National Defense Service Medal.

Upon his return, he married Sylvia Douglas in 1954, started his career in commercial construction, and settled in Farmington, where he and Sylvia raised their family. In 1965, he and Sylvia co-founded CS Margison, Inc., one of the most highly regarded private commercial construction firms in Connecticut.
Calvin was a master craftsman, known for his high-quality work and innovative solutions. Above all else, Cal was known for his integrity and straightforward common sense. Cal had a sharp, dry wit and actively pursued several interests. He was a licensed pilot and an avid skier for many years, as well as a low-handicap golfer. He shot four holes-in-one over the years and shot his age up to the end of his life.

He was an active member of Golf Club of Avon, where he served on the Board of Governors from 1976-79; Mariner Sands Country Club, Stuart FL; and Cape Arundel Golf Club in Kennebunkport, ME. He reveled in sharing his sports and hobbies with his family and leaves a legacy of active golfers and skiers among his children and grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the primary charity that Cal supported: The Mariner Sands Foundation, Inc. Attention: George Forsyth, 6500 SE Mariner Sands Drive, Stuart Florida 34997. MSF supports several Martin County FL charities in need of food, clothing, shelter and protection.
After a private family burial, there will be a Celebration of Life at Golf Club of Avon, 160 Country Club Road, Avon, on Saturday October 6th, from 3-5pm.
