Farmington Obituary: George Betti, 66

George was a longtime member of the Tunxis Hose Fire Department.

George Joseph Betti, 66, of Unionville, passed away peacefully Monday, November 19, 2018, at UConn John Dempsey Hospital surrounded by his family.

George is survived by his brother Joseph Betti and sisters Debbie Knibbs, Denise Holt, and his children Michael and Matthew Betti of Connecticut, his daughter Maureen and her husband Chris Susi of North Carolina, grandchildren Ashe-Leigh, Emma, Jackson, and Nathan, as well as several nieces and nephews. George is also survived by his daughter-in-law Danielle and very close friends Gwen, Dave, Sydney, Liz, Bob, Kathy, Fred, and Skip. He is predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy Betti, nephew Chris Knibbs, and dear friend Sondra “Sunny” Benson.

George was a graduate of E.C. Goodwin Vocational/ Technical School and worked in many fields prior to finding his passion for custom carpentry. In addition to owning his own business, George opened Unionville Wooden Toys, a workshop where he crafted unique wooden gifts.

George was a longtime member of the Tunxis Hose Fire Department. In addition to woodworking, George enjoyed camping, golfing, fishing and wildlife photography.

The family would like to sincerely thank the staff of UConn John Dempsey Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion they showed George over the years.

Friends may call at the Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Saturday (Nov. 24) from 1:00-3:00pm.
