Farmington Obituary: Matthew Nicholas, 67

Matthew Douglas Nicholas, 67, of Unionville, husband of the late Gina (Sorbera) Nicholas, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, October 7th, 2018.

Born March 26th, 1951 in Northampton, MA, he was the son of Jean (Lassonde) Nicholas of Boston, MA and the late Douglas Nicholas. Matthew was a lifelong accomplished musician, having played trumpet in the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestra as a boy, keyboards in various bands throughout his 20s, and continuing to play piano his entire life. He was a highly sought after business analyst, who traveled the country working for some of the nation’s top insurance companies.

Besides his mother, Matthew is survived by his two daughters, Shilohnine Julia Nicholas of Unionville and Ashley Alyssa Nicholas of New York, NY, three granddaughters, Kiana and Mary Slater of Las Vegas and Iona Ross of New York, NY, his two sisters, Deborah Pluss of New Jersey, Paula Nicholas of Boston, MA and his niece, Rebecca Brooks of New Jersey.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Sunday, Oct. 14 at 2:00pm.
