FARMINGTON, CT — To the Editor:

I am writing to support the candidacy of State Representative Mike Demicco in the upcoming election. Mike has lived in Farmington for almost 30 years and has served in public office for 14 years, including seven years on the Farmington Town Council. Since being elected to the Connecticut General Assembly, he has worked hard not only to bring state aid to our town and schools but also to help residents across the state by reducing taxes on businesses, enacting paid family and medical leave, and phasing out the state income tax on Social Security payments.

In both of his elected positions, Mike has made a point of seeking out people in the community whose voices frequently go unheard. I volunteer with a small, Farmington-based advocacy group for and with people with disabilities. Mike has come to many of our events and listened to the problems our advocates face every day. In response to what he has heard, he has helped by introducing legislation and by advocating with state agencies.

Mike is thoughtful, responsible, and deeply caring. As he balances the needs of specific constituencies with the general good, Mike is a public servant in every sense of the word.
