Farmington Public Schools Music Program Receives State Award of Excellence

The Connecticut Arts Administrators Association presented the top award at the State Capitol.

Connecticut Arts Administrators Association presented the Farmington Public Schools Music Program with the Excellence in Arts Education Award.

Leslie Imse, the music department chair, accepted this award at the ceremony and stated, "this award celebrates the district's dedicated music teachers, talented young musicians, rigorous programming in a town that embraces the arts."

CAAA president Rick Sadlon presented the award, which is given to only one district each year in Connecticut.

State Rep. Mike Demicco attended the ceremony to celebrate excellence in the Farmington Public Schools.

Two Farmington residents also received the CAAA Arts Advocates Award for their work in the community, nominated by Imse: Pamela Fisher, the president of the Farmington Friends of Music, who champions music in the community and supports the district's music program; and Carrie Hammond, Director of Business Development at Infinity Hall and former CEO of the Hartford Symphony Orchestra, for her continued arts leadership in the Greater Hartford area.
