Golden Leaf Found On Farmington Land Trust Property!
Covid- friendly Black Friday Hike On the West District Nature Preserve
The place to be on Black Friday was the on the Farmington Land Trust West District Nature Preserve. Our first covid-friendly hike for 10 people was led by Naturalist and FLT board member Diane Tucker and had some unexpected hidden treasures! Aside from learning more about the flora and fauna of the Preserve, participants were challenged to find hand-crafted maple leaf ornaments (the FLT logo) hidden along the path. Whoever found the golden leaf won a 2021 membership and FLT swag. Afterwards everyone enjoyed hot chocolate and homemade cowboy cookies courtesy of volunteer Mary Lou Wadsworth. The West District Nature Preserve is 24 acres of forest, fields, and a pond donated to the Land Trust in 1995 to be protected from development by sisters Ruth Childs and Mary Bushley. They also donated their over 200 year old farm house which the FLT will be renovating for their offices and for educational programing space. Currently the property is only open to the public during FLT sponsored events. Click here to learn more about the Farmington Land Trust.
