New Principal Picked For Farmington's West District School

FARMINGTON, CT — Farmington's West District School has a new leader and it's a familia face.

Superintendent of Schools Kathleen C. Greider and the Farmington Board of Education made the joint announcement last week that Carolyn Fink was appointed to the post.

The move is effective July 1, the start of the new fiscal year.

After a comprehensive national search Fink was selected from a "strong and experienced pool of candidates," according to the announcement.

In her current role as math specialist in the Farmington district, Fink has developed and coached teachers in kindergarten through Grade 4.

"Ms. Fink’s commitment to equity and inclusivity within a school environment of high expectations and belonging will provide the West District community with advancement of strategic improvement efforts aligned to Farmington’s Vision of the Global Citizen," according to the announcement. "Ms. Fink brings a wealth of experience, expertise and knowledge in leading improvement efforts that directly impact student outcomes in the areas of academics as well as social emotional well-being. Her deep commitment to student voice and leadership will serve the West District school community well. As a school district, we celebrate Ms. Fink’s dedication to the Farmington schools knowing that she will make an even greater impact as the new Principal of West District Elementary School."

The announcement continued, "We also acknowledge Principal Sanders’ many and varied accomplishments and contributions to the West District community. Ms. Sanders will retire on June 30, 2021 after serving as an educator for over 30 years in Farmington. We anticipate a smooth transition of leadership at West District with Ms. Fink’s appointment to the position of Principal of West District Elementary School on July 1, 2021."
