New Trustee Named For Farmington Libraries.
Henry Gu has joined the Farmington Library Board as its newest trustee.

FARMINGTON, CT — The Board of Trustees of the Farmington Libraries announced this week that Farmington resident Henry Gu has joined the board as its newest trustee.
Gu, who attended his first board meeting on Jan. 20, has also assumed the chair of the libraries’ Technology Committee, which met on Feb. 10.
The libraries include the main library on Monteith Drive and the Barney Library on Main Street in Farmington Village and are governed by a nine-member Board of Trustees.

The Libraries operate under the Farmington Village Green and Library Association, which also includes the Stanley- Whitman House, the Memento Mori Cemetery and the Village Green.
Gu was named to a three-year term on the Library Board.

The Technology Committee, which has been meeting monthly for the past six months, includes administrative staff from the libraries, as well as IT staff from the Town of Farmington, the libraries and Farmington Public Schools.
The Technology Committee is working on a multi-year technology plan for the Libraries.
For the past 15 years, Gu has worked at Data Management, Inc., located in Farmington, as a senior software developer. His professional work includes developing a cloud-based commercial electronic visitor management system as a full- stack developer. I
Library Board Chair Jorie Andrews, who helped bring Gu on the Board, said, "The Board is very pleased that Henry has joined the Board of Trustees and made a commitment to Chair the Library's Technology Committee. His background in software development and his knowledge of mobile technology and the information landscape will be a major asset for the Library as we plan for the future."
Gu said he is "glad that I have the opportunity to join the Farmington Library Board of Trustees as the Technology Committee Chair. I hope that I will be able to bring my technological expertise in strategic planning, information security, as well as exploring existing and emerging technology that will enhance the library's services to the community. I also hope to increase the Board's awareness of technology in the library's operation and identify new funding opportunities in technology that will bring the library to a more digital world."
