Police Investigating One-Car Crash in Collinsville

Canton police are investigating a one-car accident in Collinsville Monday evening. 

Shortly after 7 p.m., Hope Sheridan, 67, of Farmington, crashed her Hyundai into a retaining wall at the corner of Bridge and Center Streets in Collinsville. 

She was injured and transported to St. Francis Hospital but police believe she will be OK. 

"It appears to be minor in nature," said Police Capt. Lawrence Terra. 

St. Francis does not give out the status of its patients. 

The scene itself was somewhat dramatic, according to those who witnessed it. One nearby resident said on social media that the woman had to be extricated from the vehicle by members of the town of Canton Volunteer Fire and EMS Department. 

Police said the accident remains under investigation.
