Police: Shoplifter Was Wanted for Credit Card Theft in North Carolina

Shamora Aris Scales, 31, of Bridgeport, was held on charges as a fugitive from justice, police said.

A shoplifter who recently fought with security personnel at the Westfarms Mall in Farmington was also wanted for credit card theft in North Carolina, police said.

Shamora Aris Scales, 31, of 100 Holly St., Bridgeport, shoplifted from Abercrombie & Fitch and Victoria's Secret. Police learned of the North Carolina "extraditable" warrant for her arrest and held her as a "fugitive from justice" on a $250,000 surety bond.

In addition to the fugitive from justice charge tied to the North Carolina warrant, police charged her with fifth-degree larceny, possession of a shoplifting device and second-degree robbery, as well as violation of probation for a separate case. She was issued $10,000 and $4,000 surety bonds for the other charges, respectively.

She was scheduled to appear in court the same day for the fugitive from justice case and Aug. 14 for the other incidents.
