Farmington and region news, events, blogs, weather and traffic on Tuesday Aug. 6, 2013.

Happy Tuesday, Farmington!

After an exhausting few days of moving to a new town that borders the other side of Farmington, I've finally dug my new room out of the rubble of boxes and bags containing all my belongings. I went running Monday and started exploring my new neighborhood.

When you move to a new place, you observe every little detail from the dog next door constantly chasing after its red ball to the flowers, trees and people out and about.

At some point, Farmington was a new town for someone in your family. What were some of the first things you noticed about Farmington? When was it that Farmington started to feel like home? Please share with us in the comments!

Here are some notable Farmington and region news, events and blogs we recommend you check out, whether you're a longtime resident or a newcomer:

Farmington Land Trust Survey: The town's land trust is looking for your feedback as residents in an online survey that will help formulate a revised strategic plan. For more information, click on the link provided.

Looking for activities to do with your family? Farmington's Recreation Department is organizing several trips. The next one, on Aug. 17, is a day of watching horse racing in Saratoga.

Shark Week's back! While we're on the topic of sharks, Junk Food, a comic by Free Lunch Studios in Granby, has posted a few shark-themed cartoons so far this week. Take a look by clicking here, here and here.

We've got sunshine! It looks like more sun is in the forecast for Tuesday, reaching a high of 81 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. Rain and thunder is possible on Wednesday, so you may want to get your beach day trip in today!

Bonus Fun: Later in the week (Aug. 8), right from Avon, you can chat with scientists with the National and Atmospheric Administration on Twitter about sharks by tagging #SharkWeekChat in your tweets.

Have a wonderful Tuesday!

That's not all that's going on. Take a look at our calendar and Boards. Don't see your event mentioned? Please add it!
