Thunderstorms Possible This Weekend in Farmington

Some towns may see small hail and gusty winds, but the forecast for most shows mild showers, local meteorologists say.

Showers and possible thunderstorms are in the forecast every day this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Meteorologist Gil Simmons said a stray shower is possible in the farthest areas of northeast Connecticut for Friday.

Meteorologist Ryan Hanrahan said some thunderstorms are possible.

“A pocket of unusually cold air overhead (more than 2 standard deviations from normal for your statistics lovers) will help produce scattered showers and even some thunderstorms today [Friday],” he wrote on Facebook. “A couple towns could see some small hail and gusty winds today as well given the magnitude of the cold air aloft.”

The chance of rain and thunderstorms for the rest of the weekend ranges from 20- to 40-percent.
