Tunxis Campus CEO Receives PTK Award
Reome recognized with Paragon Award for New Presidents
Tunxis Community College Campus CEO Darryl Reome, Ed.D., was among 28 college presidents to be recognized with a Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society (PTK) Paragon Award for New Presidents during PTK Catalyst 2020, the Society’s annual convention, held virtually April 3-4 from a studio in Orlando, FL during the COVID-19 pandemic.
These awards are given to new college presidents who have shown strong support of student success by recognizing academic achievement, leadership, and service among high-achieving students at their college. Recipients were nominated for the award by the students on their campus. More than 500 college presidents were eligible to receive this award.
“Phi Theta Kappa provides many valuable leadership opportunities to our students and is a vital part of our college,” said Reome. “It is an honor for me to be recognized by PTK and our student members.”

Reome has taught and held several administrative positions at Tunxis since 2014, most recently joining the college in 2018 as interim dean of student affairs. He was appointed Campus CEO of Tunxis in July 2019.
PTK students have a 91 percent student success rate, and research has shown that strong presidential leadership and support of PTK increases member success and the depth of their college experience.

Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society recognizes academic achievement of community college students and offers opportunities for them to grow as scholars and leaders.
Located in Farmington, Tunxis Community College offers more than 70 associate degrees and certificates, providing critical thinking and problem-solving skills that prepare students for transfer to bachelor’s degree programs and employment in areas with industry need. The Alpha Iota Alpha Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa at Tunxis provides opportunities for more than 300 members in leadership, community service, scholarly fellowship and academic excellence. Each semester, student members participate in service and research projects to help their college and communities, and are eligible to apply for over $90 million in scholarships reserved exclusively for PTK members.
