Tunxis Donates PPE and Supplies to Bristol Hospital

Will help Bristol Hospital employees during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Tunxis Community College has donated personal protective equipment and supplies needed to help Bristol Hospital medical professionals and frontline workers treat anticipated additional patients during the COVID-19 outbreak.

Tunxis sent the hospital thousands of items including protective masks and eyewear, face shields, disposable gloves and gowns, cleaner, hand sanitizer, caps and other items from its dental hygiene, dental assisting and non-credit healthcare careers programs.

The donation followed soon after receiving requests from state of Connecticut agencies on behalf of CT health organizations, in anticipation of a shortage during the pandemic.

“We are pleased to be able to contribute to this effort and do our part to help Bristol Hospital employees prevent and reduce their risk of exposure to COVID-19,” said Darryl Reome, Ed.D., Tunxis Campus CEO.

With other CT state colleges and universities, Tunxis transitioned all spring semester classes to online learning on March 23 as a precaution to help slow the spread of the virus.
