UPS Truck Rolls Over In Farmington, Car Driver Charged

Charges have been filed in a rollover crash in Farmington involving a UPS truck that was cut off, state police said.

FARMINGTON, CT — The driver of an unregistered Infiniti is facing several charges after a Monday night hit-and-run crash that caused a UPS tractor-trailer to roll over, state police said.

The crash took place at 9:59 p.m. on the eastbound side of the highway, just before Exit 37 in Farmington, state police said.

The UPS truck was traveling on in the center lane in and the Infiniti G35 was in the left lane, according to a report. The car veered into the center lane and struck the UPS truck, which then swerved onto the right shoulder and rolled over, sate police said.

The truck driver, a 37-year-old Delaware resident, was treated at the scene for injuries and transported via ambulance to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center for further evaluation, according to a report.

The driver of the Infiniti, identified as 33-year-old Ansonia resident Darnell Porter, fled the scene, but was later stopped near Exit 41, a report indicates. Porter was charged with evading responsibility, failure to maintain the proper lane, the misuse of plates, operating an unregistered motor Vehicle and possession of a controlled substance.

The right lane of I-84 east and the Exit 37 on-ramp were closed until 4 a.m., state police said.
