Violent Kidnapping Incident In Farmington Leads To 11 Charges: PD
A man has been charged after a violent kidnapping case in Farmington, police said.

FARMINGTON, CT — A 40-year-old Farmington resident is facing five, first-degree charges and 11 in all after a violent incident at a local home, police said.
Robert Banti was taken into custody on Tuesday afternoon, according to a report. He was held during the overnight period on a $250,000 bond and was to appear in court Wednesday, police said.
According to a report, Banti is accused of holding a woman captive overnight Tuesday into Wednesday in her residence. He is accused of inflicting serious injuries on the woman during an assault, a report indicates.

The woman was able to escape to a neighbor's residence to call police at about 2:30 pm., according to a report. She was eventually taken to an area hospital, police said.
Banti was located down the street from the residence and taken into custody just after 3 p.m., police said.

Banti was charged with:
- First-degree kidnapping
- First-degree threatening
- First-degree strangulation
- First-degree reckless endangerment
- First-degree unlawful restraint
- Disorderly conduct
- Interfering with an emergency call
- Prohibited person obtaining a firearm
- Second-degree assault (serious injury)
- Interfering with police
- Criminal possession with a firearm
The weapons charges were levied because Banti is not allowed to possess firearms due to his "criminal history," police said.
