East Granby Ambulance Informational Meeting

Learn about proposed changes to East Granby's ambulance service.

From eastgranbyct.org:

There will be an informational meeting held by the East Granby Ambulance Association (EGAA) at the East Granby Senior and Community Center on October 22nd at 7 pm.

At the present time, “Basic Life Support” (BLS) which includes EMT emergency medical services for the Town of East Granby are provided by the EGAA through a Public Safety Agreement (PSA) administered by the State of Connecticut. “Advanced Life Support” (ALS) which includes paramedic service is not provided directly by the EGAA but it is available to residents as needed through agreements with neighboring towns.

Over the past several years there has been a lack of volunteers for the Ambulance Association which has resulted in a reliance on paid staff and a dramatic increase in costs.

As a result, the EGAA Board of Directors has had discussions with neighboring communities to see if there was an opportunity to work with another town to upgrade service levels and help to contain costs.

The EGAA has come to an agreement with the Granby Ambulance Association (GAA) where the GAA will acquire East Granby’s Public Service Agreement and provide emergency medical services to the town. Upon State approval of the PSA acquisition, the Granby Ambulance Association will provide 24/7 “Advanced Life Support” service to East Granby.

Please attend the Informational Meeting on October 22nd to learn more about the acquisition.  For more information call the Selectman’s Office at 860-653-2576.
