East Granby Obituary: ​Kathleen Smith, 68

Condolences to her family and friends.

Kathleen A. Smith, 68, of East Granby, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018 at her home.

Born in Hyannis, MA to the late John and Arline (Silva) Scanlon, she was raised in Windsor Locks, raised her family in Manchester, and has been a resident of East Granby since 1999. She was a graduate of A.I. Prince Technical High School in Hartford and worked as a hairdresser for many years before becoming a hairdressing teacher for CT technical schools.

Kathleen was known for her witty sense of humor and she loved to make people laugh, but her true passion was her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Arline Schuler and her husband David of Ashland, MA; her son, Eric Smith of East Granby; her brother John Scanlon of Manchester; her sisters, Martha Scanlon of Cambridge, MA, and Veronica Bermingham and her husband Reeve of Windsor Locks; and her grandchildren Jacob and Adam. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother James Scanlon and her sister Mary Lawrence.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a memorial luncheon to remember Kathy on Saturday, March 31 from 2 PM to 5 PM at the DoubleTree Hotel, 16 Ella Grasso Tpke, Windsor Locks.
