
Lois Mason Pinkney, 91, of Granby, passed away July 9, 2018 at Governors House in Simsbury.
Born in Stafford Springs on January 16, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Lester R. Mason and Mildred S. Westerberg. Lois was raised in East Longmeadow, MA and was a 1944 graduate of Springfield Technical High School. She went on to UConn and received her BA from from the School of Home Economics in 1948.
Lois married William Pinkney III of Rowayton in 1949, raising a family in Watertown, NY before moving to Granby in 1976. Lois was a kindergarten teacher at four schools in Watertown, NY: Cooper, Meade, Knickerbocker and Starbuck Elementary Schools.

She was a member of the College Woman’s Club in Watertown, as well as being a Girl Scout and Brownie leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. Lois was also a Sunday School Teacher at the First Methodist Church. In Connecticut, she was a member of the Granby Civic Club, Granby Newcomers Club and Friends of Cossitt Library in Granby.
For many years, in addition to their regular jobs, she and her husband operated a rare book business, travelling the country to do book shows. They also had a home print shop as a hobby, printing their own stationery, Christmas cards and signage, as well as amusing themselves with other projects. Lois and the extended family enjoyed vacationing on Wellesley Island, NY every summer.

She leaves behind a daughter, Kristen Pinkney (Thomas F. Bregani) of Greenfield, NH; her two sons William Pinkney (Bonnie) of Simsbury; and Jett Pinkney (Judy) of Coral Springs, FL. Also her grandchildren: Gigi Bennett (John) of Reston, VA; Adria Bregani (Seth Blake) of South Pasadena, CA; Olivia Bregani of Peterborough, NH; and Thomas Bregani of Greenfield, NH.
A Graveside Service will be held at Rowayton Union Cemetery in Rowayton at a later date.
