Letter: First Selectman Candidate Lofink Thanks Granby

"I appreciate how you have responded during this campaign."

Thank you, Granby.

Whatever the outcome of Tuesday’s local elections, I appreciate how you have responded during this campaign.

To those residents who took the time to attend one of the neighborhood Open Houses in Granby, North Granby or West Granby, thank you for letting me get to know you, and to hear your thoughts and ideas.  And thank you to the hosts for the use of their homes.

To those concerned citizens who participated in the 11 Listening Posts around town – thank you for caring, and for sharing.  And thank you to the merchants who opened their establishments to us – Peppermill Bakery and Lost Acres Vineyard.

To the voters who answered our phone calls or read our mailers encouraging you to “Get Out and Vote” – thank you for exercising that right and that responsibility.

To the property owners who graciously opened their doors when I came knocking over the past nine weekends – I appreciate your courtesy and the information you shared with me.  If you were not home, but read the info I left for you and called or emailed me – I appreciate your time and thoughtfulness.  To those I missed, I just wish I had more time – reach out and I will gladly respond.

To those 110 volunteers who actively supported my campaign (and the 13 more Democratic candidates!), thank you for your time, your energy, your financial contributions and for placing a sign on your lawn!

Since this campaign started, I have logged over 150 hours meeting and listening to people and have knocked on over 600 doors.  Before this campaign, I knew people I had something in common with – kids, sports, clubs, church.  But through these campaigning activities I have met many more with only one thing in common – our choice to live here together in Granby.  For those new relationships, I give thanks.

Through your kind and respectful treatment, I have come to view Granby from another perspective – yours.  I pledge to respect you with hard work and open, thoughtful and responsive leadership as your next First Selectman.  Please vote this Election Day, Tuesday Nov 5th.

Thank you!

Jim Lofink
