Marlborough Girl Who Died of Injuries at Enders Falls Identified

The 15-year-old fell 15-to-20 feet from a waterfall on Saturday.

The Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) has identified a Marlborough teen who fell from a waterfall at Enders State Forest in Granby on Saturday. She died of her injuries on Sunday.

DEEP said she was 15-year-old Amanda Monington. Granby police had originally reported that she was 17.

According to DEEP, she fell 15-to-20 feet around 5:30 p.m. Saturday from a waterfall. Ropes and a rescue basket were used to get her into a LifeStar helicopter, which then took her to Hartford Hospital.

DEEP's Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police responded to calls for assistance, along with fire departments from Granby, East Granby, Simsbury, and East Hartland.

Granby police and emergency services also responded. DEEP EnCon police are investigating the fatality.
