[Updated] Polls Are Open in Granby and East Granby

[Updated 1:45 p.m.] The following is from the Granby registrars of voters: As of 12:25 pm today, Granby has had 1,118 voters checked in at the polling site. 93 absentee ballots were received from the Town Clerk.

We have three EDR voters who registered and voted at Town Hall: one brand new voter and two voters from Avon.  Avon Registrar Laura Hunt was able to quickly confirm that the voters who moved to Granby from Avon have not voted in Avon.

Not quite halfway through and a total of 1,214 ballots have been cast, or 17.1%.  It looks like we are on track to have a 35 percent turnout for the day which will make this Municipal election the highest turnout since 1991 when we had 42.93 percent.

In East Granby, turnout was light but steady, according to the registrars of voters. Normally, for municipal elections, turnout is around 30 percent, and they expect to see similar results today.
