What does ‘Take Charge of Your Life’ mean?

In order to ‘Take charge of your life’ - we first need to understand who we are.

To know yourself explore:

· What are your strengths, weaknesses, likes and dislikes?

· Observe and be aware of your moods, reactions and responses to what is happening around you.

· Become aware of how these moods and emotions affect your state of mind.

· Examine how you interact with others.

· Observe how your environment affects you.

· What are your core values and purpose?

· What are your dreams for your profession, family, physical health, spiritual health, relationship health, financial health and contributions to the community?

· What are your priorities in life?

Take charge of your life by:

· Understanding what you want and then having the courage, self-control and patience to follow through.

· Know your life mission statement (e.g. My purpose is to live life to the fullest by taking the care of my relationships, finances and overall happiness to the best of my abilities).

· Being True to Yourself - being connected with your values and vision and setting meaningful goals for yourself.

· Living a full, productive life requires maintaining balance between work, relaxation and recreation.

· Appreciate self and practice self-love.

· Do things you love.

· Ditch any self-deprecating talk.

· Forgive yourself – you know if you made a mistake.

· Create the life you want.

· Decide what path to follow based on what is important to you.

Take charge – do it your way, be who you are, do not become what others want you to be, be comfortable in your own skin, and manage your priorities in a mindful manner.
