2019 Greenwich Kite Flying Festival April 27
The annual event is held on the beach at Greenwich Point Park.

From The Town of Greenwich: The Annual Greenwich Kite Flying Festival will be held once again this spring on the beach at Greenwich Point Park. The Department of Parks and Recreation, India Cultural Center of Greenwich (ICC), and The Greenwich Arts Council are hosting this year’s event.
The Kite Flying Festival is a fun, family event that combines culture, recreation, and the arts to celebrate the start of the spring season. Enjoy live music, lunch at the beach, and kite flying! Participants only need to bring a kite to fly. The more creative, fun, and colorful the kite, the better! All kite fliers will be recognized with a participation ribbon. With thanks to the generosity of the Metinko/Kniffen Family, ICC will be handing out easy-to-fly delta kites (Limited number available and will be first come, first serve) and hosting a patang, fighter kite, demonstration. Kite flying dates to as early as 200 BC in Asia. In India, kites took on the distinctive style of a patang, or fighter kite, which over 1,500 years later, continues to be the most popular kite flown in India. Gift certificates have been generously donated by Smart Kids Toys to be raffled off at the event.
