Black Bear Sighting Reported On Round Hill Road

A black bear was seen on Round Hill Road in Greenwich recently, according to the Round Hill Association.

GREENWICH, CT — A black bear was seen crossing Round Hill Road recently, according to an email from the Round Hill Association.

A user on the Nextdoor app posted photos from their car in the area of 290-300 Round Hill Rd. at around 10 a.m. on Thursday. The bear was reportedly tagged.

Bear sightings in Connecticut have been on the rise as populations continue to grow. According to the Department of Energy and Environment Protection (DEEP), the Wildlife Division has also seen an increase in the number of reported problems with black bears.

"The primary contributing factor to bear nuisance problems is the presence of easily-accessible food sources near homes and businesses," DEEP says on the state website.
