Boys & Girls Club Of Greenwich Gives Back To Parsonage Cottage
Members of the BGCG Torch Club recently stopped by Parsonage Cottage and donated life-sized Connect Four games.

GREENWICH, CT — In an effort to give back to the community, members of the Torch Club from the Boys and Girls Club of Greenwich stopped by Parsonage Cottage on Monday to deliver life-sized Connect Four games for the residents to enjoy.
Parsonage Cottage is an affordable home for Greenwich seniors to be able to age in place, near friends and family, remaining in the town they call home.
Torch Club is a yearlong program for kids ages 11-13 that challenges its members to dedicate themselves to helping others through fundraising events and community service. Their focus is to work together to implement projects in the four focus areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation.

"We are so appreciative of this thoughtful donation from the Torch Club. Our residents will definitely enjoy playing these games, which will help to enhance their socialization, memory, and cognitive skills," said Penny Lore, Executive Director of Parsonage Cottage in a news release. "One of our focuses is keeping the residents connected to the community throughout the year with groups like Torch Club."
Earlier this year, Torch Club worked with 10 local restaurants in an effort called "Tasty Tuesdays." With a rotation of two restaurants every Tuesday, a portion of the sales raised was donated to the Torch Club. In turn, the club voted on local projects to support with the funds raised.

"I wish you could've seen the smiles on our members' faces walking back on the bus," Camryn Ferrara, Torch Club advisor and Athletic Coordinator for BGCG, told Patch. Also at Parsonage Cottage was club advisor and Aquatics Coordinator, Ashley Culver.
"It means a lot to our kids knowing the hard work they put in from their 'Tasty Tuesday' project is going to meaningful places. It’s also special watching our kids work together while building the jumbo Connect Four for the residents," Ferrara added. "The Boys & Girls of Greenwich Junior Cardinals love giving back to their community."
Torch Club will also sponsor a golf hole for Parsonage Cottage's upcoming mini golf fundraiser. They also plan on donating 20 assorted puzzles to Nathaniel Witherell, and a Connect Four piece to The Mews.
