GREENWICH, CT — The 10th annual Greenwich Town Party has been postponed "after careful consideration" to protect the "health, safety and best interests" of residents, event partners and musicians, event officials announced Monday. The decision comes as the state, and the nation, continued to grapple with the new coronavirus, also referred to as COVID-19.

The celebration, originally scheduled to be held Saturday, May 23, will now be moved to a yet to be determined Saturday in August. Event officials said the decision was made "in close coordination with local health authorities," as well as the first selectman's office.

"We are communicating with all of our bands to confirm our new date, and we are confident that we will provide an outstanding lineup filled with amazing musicians," Town Party Co-President Ray Rivers said in a statement. "We will keep everyone updated as it evolves."

"We thank our loyal community for their patience and understanding as we work on the details of rescheduling the Greenwich Town Party," Rivers said. "We encourage everyone to support each other and stay safe and healthy. Come August, we will have an even more important reason to throw a party; not only to share great music, food and fun, but to come together and celebrate our strong and generous community."
