Delays, Detours Expected During Water Main Work In Greenwich

A water main installation project is scheduled to begin this month in Greenwich and is expected to be completed sometime in August.

GREENWICH, CT — Travelers are asked to anticipate traffic delays and detours in the area of Laddins Rock Road next week when work begins on a water main installation project.

In a statement, Aquarion Water Company officials said the project is scheduled to begin July 13 and is expected to be completed by mid-August. (To sign up for Greenwich breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

According to the company, these installations are integral to a new Havemeyer Lane Pump Station currently being constructed on Laddins Rock Road.

"We greatly appreciate residents' patience during this project," Michael Hiltz, Aquarion's manager of utility programs, said in a statement. "We will work closely with our customers, contractors and town officials to coordinate the work and minimize any disruptions."

The project includes installation of approximately 1,200 feet of 24-inch water main and is part of an ongoing program to improve Aquarion's water distribution system capacity and reliability, as well as to ensure delivery of the highest quality water to its customers, company officials said.

Due to construction, travelers in the area should expect minor traffic delays and detours during work hours (7 a.m. to 5 p.m.). During the Laddins Rock water main installation, the road's northbound lane will remain open for one-way traffic, however the southbound lane will be closed and detour signs will be posted to reroute traffic around the closed section of the road.

M. Rondano Construction, a Norwalk-based company, will serve as the contractor for the water main replacement project, officials said.
