CT Weather: Halloween Forecast Includes Heavy Rain, Wind

Some severe weather is possible in Connecticut on Halloween and here are the details on a very "gross" forecast.

CONNECTICUT — There is just nothing nice to say about the weather forecast for the next two days. In fact, WTNH News 8 Chief Meteorologist Gil Simmons used the word "gross" to sum up the weather forecast for today and Halloween.

Simmons wrote on social media, "G-R-O-S-S weather today! Don’t forget the umbrella today there will be periods of rain from time to time. It may let up for a little while and then start back up! At least temperatures will be on the warm side with 60s for the afternoon. Unsettled for Halloween. I do expect some severe wind and rain late Thursday night early Friday morning that could cause some power outages. But check this out, the sun will be out Friday mid day right through the weekend!"

Now if you have a child that wants to go out trick or treating on Halloween there may be a brief window where you can do that without getting soaked. It appears rain showers will fall off and on throughout Thursday but the heaviest rain and strong wind gusts won't occur until very late Thursday.

So as of right now, your best bet is to go out as early as possible on Halloween. Several Connecticut towns have moved official events indoors or in some cases moved town sponsored events to Saturday. Patch will keep updating if there is any change to your local Halloween events. The National Weather Service says "Light rain and patchy fog will linger into the mid morning today with overcast skies persisting all day Wednesday. Despite the cloud cover, temperatures should be able to reach the mid 60s by the afternoon. Intermittent drizzle and light showers move into the (area) some time in the late afternoon setting up another rainy evening.

"Overnight, additional showers move in from the southwest ahead of the next system as increased dew points keep early morning minimum temperatures in the upper 50s. Showers continue through the day Thursday increasing in coverage and intensity into the evening. As the system nears the forecast area, strong south winds with gusts up to 35 mph may become an issue into the evening and overnight hours."
