GHS Football 'Santas' Join a Christmas Charity Tradition
The truck delivering all the trees direct from New Hampshire will arrive at 8:00 a.m.

From 2016 Charity Christmas Tree Sale:
On Saturday, November 26, members of the Greenwich High School Freshman Football Team will don red “Santa” hats and unload 500 Christmas trees to be sold in the Annual Charity Christmas Tree Sale at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich.
It will be an early Saturday for the GHS team, since the truck delivering all the trees direct from New Hampshire will arrive at 8:00 am, and the trees need to be unloaded and sorted immediately so that the sale can begin as scheduled at 9:00 am.

“Hot Cocoa and Donuts will provide an additional incentive for the unloading crew to work fast,” said Tamara Ng-Yow, Outreach Chairperson at First Church. “We are really honored by these young men showing how important it is to give back to the community by supporting these wonderful local charities.”
The Charity Christmas Tree Sale will continue on the First Congregational Church lawn, across from Binney Park in Old Greenwich, on Saturdays from 9:00 am to 6:30 pm and Sundays from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm, until all the trees, wreaths and tree stands are sold.

The net proceeds from the sale will benefit the following local charity partners:
- Kids in Crisis
- Meals on Wheels
- Pacific House
- BackCountry Jazz
- Neighbors Link
- Young Mariners Academy (SoundWaters)
In recent years, the sale has grown into a traditional real community event, with over 1,0130 volunteers of all ages – including including church members, ambassadors from all the benefiting charities, and students from the Greenwich public and private schools – lending all lending a hand selling trees and tying themrees on cars for customers.
“The thing that makes the tree sale a really special experience about this event,” Ms. Ng-Yow said, “is that when you buying a fresh- cut Christmas tree, beautiful wreath or white pine roping for your family, also creates a, your decoration is actually a gift that keeps on giving to those in need, long after the holidays are over. ,” said Tamara Ng-Yow, Outreach Chairperson. “None of the profits go to the church; they, it all goes to support the programs of our charity -partners”.
Unique features of the sale include: Another special feature of the First Church tree sale is free delivery upon request.
* Free deliveries (“Our Senior Pastor Richard DenUyl enjoys making some of the deliveries in his pick-up truck,” said Ms. Ng-Yow. “! Some customers have been quite surprised to find the delivery boy is their local minister!”)
