Great Captain Island Ferry Service Suspended

Ferry service to the island has been suspended effective immediately due to a mechanical breakdown with the Islander II Ferry vessel.

GREENWICH, CT — According to an alert from the Town of Greenwich, effective immediately, ferry service to Great Captain Island has been suspended.

"The Islander II Ferry has experienced a mechanical breakdown which requires US Coast Guard notification," the alert said. "We are working closely with the Coast Guard and the shipyard provider to determine a plan of action. More updates to follow on Monday, June 28."

The alert was issued shortly before 4 p.m. on Thursday.
